Somerville Porchfest returns to town on May 11, officially kicking off porchfest season in the Boston area. The first porchfest took place in Ithaca, New York in 2007, and the concept has since expanded to cities and towns across the country, bringing amateur musicians together for an afternoon of free, live music from neighborhood porches and front yards. Somerville Porchfest was the Boston area’s first in 2011, and now dozens of communities across the state host their own versions of the bootstrapped music festival. Also, there’s a new local town joining the lineup this year: Watertown.

Ahead, discover where and when you can find porchfests across Massachusetts this year.
