New Fort Myers restaurant opens with celebrity chef's flavors
Fabio Viviani is perhaps best known as the fan favorite of Top Chef’s season 5 on Bravo. The celebrity chef, restaurateur and entrepreneur also beat Bobby Flay on an episode of the aptly named Food Network show, “Beat Bobby Flay.” In addition to that, he’s the founder of Fabio Viviani Hospitality, which oversees 30 to 40 culinary ventures. And one of those is Chuck Lager Legendary Kitchen, which just opened a location near Gulf Coast Town Center in south Fort Myers . 'A complete renovation' “Fabio is fantastic,” said Fort Myers resident Jim Tover, who moved here in 2017 after spending 40 years in the financial services sector in Boston. “He’s such a good partner, very involved. And (Fabio Viviani Hospitality) is helping out to make sure we’re successful.” On Jan. 26, Tover and Viviani opened Chuck Lager on University Plaza Drive, in the space vacated by Chili’s a few years ago. “It was a complete renovation,” said Tover, who added he never really thought he’d own a restaurant. “The kitchen, front of house. The outdoor patio was added. That’s been doing well, especially this time of year.” “The patio is awesome,” added Chris Neal, FVH director of operations. “The

The Laboratory Theater presents “Julius Caesar”
Laboratory Theater presents William Shakespeare’s “Julius Caesar,” directed by Alex Dagg and Nykkie Rizley. Known for pushing boundaries and championing daring, cutting-edge theater, The Laboratory Theater of Florida is returning to its roots with a provocative, modern reimagining of William Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, opening March 27. In this visceral staging, Co-directors Alex Dagg and Nykkie Rizley swap the marble pillars of Rome for the shadows of a dingy parking lot. This is a world of asphalt and adrenaline, where the high-minded rhetoric of the Senate is replaced by the dangerous codes of the street.

McCartney's righthand Wings man lived in Naples, featured in new movie
North Naples rocker Denny Laine worked side-by-side with Paul McCartney in their hugely popular band Wings. Together, they packed arenas in the ‘70s with hits like “Band on the Run,” “Live and Let Die” and “Silly Love Songs.” Now — after Laine’s death in 2023 — a new book, documentary and upcoming exhibit at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame are celebrating the band and the musical partnership between rock icon McCartney of The Beatles, his wife Linda McCartney and Laine, the original lead singer and guitarist for classic-rock greats The Moody Blues. Laine would’ve loved all the new attention for Wings and the music he made with McCartney, says Laine’s widow Liz Hines. That’s what makes this moment so bittersweet. “It's just so sad for me, because he's not here to enjoy it…” says Hines of North Naples. “It was a very creative time (in Laine’s life). He got to tour the world. He got to see the world, which is something he always wanted to do.” Denny Laine interviewed in new Wings documentary Laine sat for a February 2023 interview in New York with Oscar-winning film director Morgan Neville (“20 Feet From Stardom”), Hines says.
