In late July, while playing golf, Ken Kelly got a distressing call from a former employee. She told him she thought Kelly Roofing , the company his father built — and he'd run for decades before selling it — might be going under. In 2020, the younger Kelly sold the longtime family business in North Naples to a private equity firm, Monument MicroCap Partners, keeping only a small stake in it. While enjoying his retirement, he thought all was well. Until he got that phone call on the golf course.
