CIMARRON COUNTY, Okla. (KAMR/KCIT) – The Oklahoma Department of Public Safety released information on a Thursday night head-on crash southeast of Boise City, which killed one driver after their vehicle was pinned under a semi-truck.

Officials said that at around 10:20 p.m. on Thursday, one person was driving northbound in a 2012 Toyota 4Runner on US-287 and E0230 Road, about three miles southeast of Boise City. When the driver of the Toyota tried to pass two tractor-trailer trucks, they crashed head-on into a 2007 Freightliner semi that was southbound on the same road.

The driver of the Toyota, who was not identified by officials, was extricated by emergency responders after the Toyota was pinned under the semi, and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials noted that the Amarillo man who was the driver of the involved semi was taken to a local hospital with injuries, though was admitted “in stable condition.”

The cause and further details about the crash, said officials, are still under investigation.
