Oakwood Kindergartners Complete ABC Boot Camp
The Oakwood Elementary KA Sweet Kids and KB Super Kids recently completed ABC Boot Camp. They spent 26 days reviewing and learning letters and sounds. We celebrated with an ABC Parade through the school while the other grade levels lined the hallways to cheer us on! We finished the parade outside so our families could see too. We also held our first Family Reading Day of the year outside. It was a wonderful opportunity to share books, sunshine and time together. Way to go, Sweet Kids and Super Kids! We’re proud of you. Meet Aleena Davis, Marion Harding's 80th homecoming queen
The Marion Harding High School student body elected its 80th homecoming queen and king this year. This year Aleena Davis, a senior at Harding, won the honor of homecoming queen. Davis is a catcher for Harding's varsity softball team, recently joined the school swim team, participates in show choir, and is on Varsity H Council and Teen Institute, a program where teens encourage their peers to live a drug-free life. She also works a part-time job at 7 Brew. She stays busy. With all of her involvement at school and her extracurriculars, Davis knew she'd be a good candidate for queen. "I feel like I'm very involved in Harding and that I'm a good representative," Davis said. After learning she was nominated, Davis went to work asking friends and acquaintances at the school to vote for her. A few ballots later, Davis learned she won. Her mom said the win brought on tears from the shock. "Since sophomore year, I was like 'I want to be queen,'" Davis said. After she graduates, she hopes to attend Ohio State University to study broadcast and one day become a meteorologist. She's already started practicing by giving the weather forecast during the morning
