OAK HILL, WV (WVNS) — The first ever regional choir made up of the top high school singing talent in southern West Virginia is getting ready for its first show on Friday, April 19, 2024.

Southern West Virginia Regional Honor Choir will perform for the very first time for their peers and the public. The students were hand selected out of four regional high schools across southern West Virginia for this choir.

Oak Hill High School Choir Director Joseph Dangerfield said this is the first of its kind, as there has never before been a regional choir for high school students in the Mountain State. He added it’s a long time coming.

“The band has had an honor band like this for a long time and we thought it was time to do the same thing for choir, so this is select students from four regional high schools, Oak Hill High School, which is where the performances are, Chapmanville Regional High School, Greenbrier East High School, and Greenbrier West High School,” said Dangerfield.
