Continuum of Care Grant awarded to the City of Bluefield Police Department

BLUEFIELD, WV (WVNS) — The City of Bluefield Police Department received a Continuum of Care Grant.

$450,000 was awarded to the City of Bluefield Police Department from the O ffice of Justice Programs Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention under the “Building Local Continuums of Care to Support Youth Success” initiative.

The grant funds will go towards helping create a community-based continuum of promising and evidence-based prevention and intervention services, and will let the Police Department focus on and help children in Bluefield, West Virginia.

Not only is the City of Bluefield Police Department honored to get the funds, they are grateful to the Department of Justice for the acknowledging the city, citizens, and police department in Bluefield, West Virginia with the funds that will allow them to help the children in the area.

More than $17 million was given to 26 grantees to help with the Building Local Continuums of Care to Support Youth Success initiative by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, a program office of the Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs.

Services and opportunities that not only prioritize effective and safe program outcomes, but that also help encourage positive youth development are what the Continuum of Care framework helps with. Continuum of Care helps children by using prosocial activities, mentoring, and after-school programs.

The Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention investment uses ,years of evidence-based learning to stop children from going into or becoming more involved in the juvenile justice system, and to help them be successful.
