College sports: Five Verona student-athletes sign National Letters of Intent
Five student-athletes signed National Letters of Intent on Jan. 16 to continue athletic careers at the collegiate level. The five athletes who signed are Nathan Kirwan, who will play volleyball at Aurora University; Harriet Salas, who will play softball at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville; Bryson Kundinger, who will wrestle at UW-Eau Claire. Two baseball players – Jack DeTienne and Owen Davis also signed. DeTienne signed to play baseball at Xavier University and Davis signed to play baseball at Edgewood College.

Middleton claimed a Big Eight boys golf championship Friday at Evansville Golf Club on Thursday, outshooting runner-up Janesville Craig 308-310 to take the Big Eight Conference Tournament title. Baseball Recap: Eli Schneider can't quite lead Lodi over Mount Horeb
It was a good run, but Lodi unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 7-3 to the Mount Horeb Vikings. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Lodi of the 5-4 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2023.

Lake Mills fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against Belleville on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Belleville Wildcats by a score of 8-6. Lake Mills was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Belleville apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2023.
