BLOOMINGTON, Minn. — A pedestrian has life-threatening injuries after being struck on Interstate 35W in Bloomington Monday morning, authorities said.

The 39-year-old man ran across the northbound lanes of the highway and up a hill before running back down and trying to cross again, the Minnesota State Patrol said. A driver in an SUV struck him in the middle lane just after 6 a.m.

The pedestrian was taken to Hennepin Healthcare. The driver was uninjured.

Traffic was diverted off I-35W at 90th Street for a time during the morning commute Monday as the patrol investigated. The highway reopened shortly after 8 a.m.
