    High school basketball honors continue: Bloomington trio invited to IBCA Showcase

    High school basketball honors from the 2023-24 season have gone overtime, bleeding into May.

    Bloomington South's Julia Lashley and Vincent Moutardier and North's Luke Lindeman were invited to the 22nd Indiana Basketball Coaches Association/IHSAA Top 100 Underclass Showcase basketball events at Ben Davis in Indianapolis.

    The girls event will be June 13 and include 131 players, including Lashley, and run from 12:30-5:30 p.m.

    The boys event takes place June 28, and will include 120 players, including Moutardier and Lindeman. It will run in two sessions, from 11 a.m.-2:45 p.m. and 3-6:45 p.m. The Showcase events are open to the public. Tickets are $5.

    AP All-State Basketball teams announced

    The AP All-State Basketball teams, as voted on by Indiana's media, were recently announced.

    The Boys First Team is led by top vote getter Flory Bidunga of Kokomo. The 6-foot-9 senior was also named Mr. Basketball. Joining him are seniors Jack Benter of Brownstown Central, K.J. Windham of Ben Davis, Keenan Garner of Fishers and Evan Haywood of Brebeuf Jesuit.

    The second team includes juniors Trent Sisley of Heritage Hills, Braylon Mullins of Greenfield-Central and Azavier Robinson of Lawrence North and seniors Isaac Andrews of Wapahani and Micah Davis of Franklin.

    Earning honorable mention were Lindeman and Connor O'Guinn of North, Moutardier of South and Mialin White of Edgewood.

    The Girls First Team was led by top vote getter, senior Chloe Spreen of Bedford North Lawrence. Joining her are seniors Reagan Wilson of Noblesville; Jordyn Poole of Fort Wayne Snider and Juliann Woodard of Jennings County and junior Jaylah Lampley of Lawrence Central.

    The Second Team includes seniors Faith Wiseman of Indian Creek, Talia Farris of Fishers and Ava Ziolkowski of Crown Point and juniors Maya Makalusky of Hamilton Southeastern and Kira Reynolds of South Bend Washington.

    Honorable mention went to North's Mia Robbennolt and Eastern Greene's Keylee Hudson.

    Academic All-State

    The Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association honored several area athletes.

    Named Academic All-State for girls basketball were Kate Barada of South and Maris Holmes of Edgewood.

    Academic All-State in gymnastics were Claire Dann and Jessica Floyd of North and Audrey Freeman-Day and Morgan Cockerill of South. Honorable mention went to Claire Lutz, Maddie Kawanishi and Stella Eibling of South.

    Floyd and Garcia were first team and Kawanishi second team on the ICGSA All-State lists.

    Kawanishi was also the recipient of the annual ICGSA Athlete Scholarship for gymnastics. She was given one of 10 $1,000 scholarships awarded to seniors, one from each of the 10 IHSAA girls’ sports.

    Wrestling honors

    Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Academic All-State went to Jeremiah Casillas, Cas Crevello, Kanye-Roberts Gray and Samuel Simms of North and Evan Roudebush of South.
