BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WANE) – Homestead grad Carter Mathison keeps on pummeling at the plate.

For the second time in as many days, Mathison crushed a home run to help Indiana earn a win over Rutgers in Big Ten play.

Sunday’s home run was Mathison’s 40th in his college baseball career. That ties the Homestead grad with Kyle Schwarber for sixth most home runs all-time in Indiana baseball history. Mathison also joins Schwarber and Alex Dickerson as the only Hoosiers to hit at least 40 home runs in their first three seasons at IU.

Mathison and the Hoosiers look to keep rolling at rival Purdue next weekend. The 3-game series kicks off Friday at West Lafayette.
