Bloomingdale Police Department & Bloomingdale Public School District Responds to Samuel R. Donalds School Precautionary Lockdown

BLOOMINGDALE, NJ - On April 23rd, Samuel R. Donald school was put into a precautionary lockdown at approximately 3:25 PM after a single round of ammunition was found on the property.

According to the joint letter released by Bloomingdale Police Department and Bloomingdale Public Schools, the single round was found in the back corner of the playground near the property line.

10 minutes after the discovery, the Bloomingdale Police Department determined that there was no immediate threat to the student's or staff's safety.

Although the investigation is still ongoing, the police department and school district remain confident that there is no threat.

"[..] The school District and the Police Department acknowledge that this situation is unsettling. The safety and security of our students and staff are of the utmost priority. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be an increased presence of officers on patrol at Samuel R. Donald. While we understand an incident like this can be concerning, we want to reassure you that there is no immediate threat to the safety of our students or staff," stated Bloomingdale PD and Bloomingdale Public School District in a joint letter.
