Theft:
04/08/2024-Officers responded to the area of Waverly Terrace on report of a Theft from Auto. A resident parked his work van in his driveway overnight and the following morning he noticed the lock was broken and tools were missing. The tools were valued at $8,500.00. This incident is under investigation.
04/08/2024-Officers responded to 60 Orange Street (Home Depot) on report of a Shoplifting. According to the Loss Prevention Officer, a cashier scanned multiple items and a male then took the items and left the store without paying. The items were valued at $83.45. This incident is under investigation.
04/08/2024-A resident responded to Bloomfield Police Headquarters to report a Package Theft from the 100 block of Franklin Street. The resident received a notification from UPS that a package was delivered on 04/06/2024, however, the package was not in the common area of the building. The package contained pet food valued at $95.99. This incident is under investigation.
04/10/2024-Officers responded to the area of Williamson Avenue and Willet Street on reports of Thefts from Autos. A resident from Williamson Avenue noticed the passenger side door handle of his work van broken and various tools were missing. The tools were valued at $4000.00. A resident from Willet Street noticed the passenger side window of his work van broken and various tools were missing. The tools were valued at $7191.00. These incidents are under investigation.
04/11/2024-Officers responded to the area of Williamson Avenue on report of a Theft from Auto. The complainant parked his vehicle in his driveway overnight and the following morning he noticed it was rummaged through. A gym bag containing sneakers, sunglasses, headphones and a Samsung cell phone were missing. The items were valued at $1450.00. The vehicle was left unlocked. This incident is under investigation.
04/11/2024-Juvenile Male age 16 from East Orange, NJ. Officers responded to the area of Arlington Avenue and MacArthur Avenue on reports of multiple Thefts from Autos. Video surveillance cameras showed a juvenile male enter several vehicles in the area and take several items. During their investigation, Detectives were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.
04/13/2024-Officers responded to the 300 block of Memorial Parkway on report of a Package Theft. A resident had a package delivered and when she went to retrieve it, it was missing. The package contained cosmetic products valued at $426.28. This incident is under investigation.
Motor Vehicle Theft:
04/11/2024-Juvenile Male age 16 East Orange, NJ. Officers responded to the area of Watsessing Avenue on report of a Motor Vehicle Theft. A resident parked her vehicle on the street overnight and the following morning she noticed it was missing. The vehicle was left unlocked. The vehicle, a black 2012 Hyundai Elantra, was entered as stolen. During their investigation, Detectives were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.
Arrests from Previous Investigations:
04/08/2024-Rosanne Ruglio age 71 of Newark, NJ.
Ms. Ruglio was arrested on a Summons for a Shoplifting incident resulting from an investigation which occurred at Shop-Rite located at 1409 Broad Street on 09/29/2023.
04/10/2024-Brandon Carter age 37 of Ridgely, MD. Mr. Carter was arrested on a Warrant for a Shoplifting and Counterfeiting incident resulting from an investigation which occurred at Shop-Rite located at 1409 Broad Street on 03/23/2023.
04/11/2024-Carldwell Thomas age 52 of Orange, NJ. Mr. Thomas was arrested on a Summons for a Shoplifting incident resulting from an investigation which occurred at Home Depot located at 60 Orange Street on 04/06/2024.
04/12/2024-Daniel Bataille age 34 of Hackensack, NJ. Mr. Bataille was arrested on several Warrants for Shoplifting incidents which occurred at Stop & Shop located at 8 Franklin Street on 12/11/2023 and 03/29/2024.
