Cortland man facing two felonies after domestic call
CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Cortland man awaits his day in court. Authorities were called to Elm Street on Thursday afternoon for a report that two people were being held against their will by Christopher Gillette. Cortland PD was able to get the people out safely, one of whom had an order of protection against Gillette. It led to a two-hour standoff with the 40-year-old, where he allegedly threatened to harm himself with a knife before being taken into custody without incident.

Wanted Man Arrested – Found With Drugs
Back on November 3rd, an investigation was opened by the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office into a larceny that had taken place at the Real Deals Store on Route 281 in Cortlandville. The investigation found 25 year old Joshua M. Price of Marathon, who was an employee at the time at the store, had stolen money from the store. Officers later obtained an arrest warrant for Price on the charge of Grand Larceny in the 3rd, a Felony.

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) – A reward has been offered for information about an abandoned cat in Cortland. On Thursday morning, Cortland County SPCA (CCSPCA) employees found a cat in a carrier on the front steps of the facility in freezing temperatures. The cat was cold, underweight, and had an open wound on its neck. CCSPCA officials say the person or persons who left the cat could and should have contacted the on-call investigator for the facility for assistance, or brought the cat in during business hours, free of charge. The cat has been examined and is being treated.
