ATOMIC CITY — A woman was airlifted to the hospital following a two-vehicle wreck on Highway 20 on Wednesday morning, authorities said.

A local man also suffered injuries in the wreck, which happened around 5:40 a.m. near Atomic City, Idaho State Police said.

The accident occurred when a 2010 Nissan Cube, driven by a 24-year-old woman from Arco, was headed westbound on Highway 20, crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound 2013 Toyota Corolla driven by a 58-year-old man from Blackfoot, state police said.

The Arco woman was airlifted via emergency helicopter to a local hospital for treatment, while the Blackfoot man was transported via ground ambulance to a local hospital, state police said.

The drivers’ names and conditions haven’t been released. Both were wearing seat belts, state police said.

Highway 20’s eastbound lanes were blocked for about five hours because of the crash.

State police are continuing to investigate the wreck. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Master Cpl. Peeples at 208-528-3400.
