BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — The Bismarck Larks are unveiling upgrades to the ballpark and the food and beverage experience on Opening Night, which takes place on May 27.

A fresh perspective is being added to the Food & Beverage Team as Shane Cornelius — the co-owner of Butterhorn — has joined the team as their first-ever Food and Beverage Consultant.

Cornelius has spent the last 20 years providing fine dining for guests in his restaurant and has been putting in long hours with the Larks’ Ballpark Operations team to enhance and create food and beverage systems and processes.

“When fans are going through the lines,” he explained, “we want it to be a personable experience with the sound of food, the smell of a dish, the visually appealing factors, and great service. It’s about elevating the classic ballpark food experience fans already expect, and making them go ‘WOW.'”

Buffet times will also now be measured in hours instead of “innings.” Scheels Flock Members will be able to enjoy the ballpark buffet on the right field side for two hours from the time gates open. Bravers Suite Seat and Home Plate Club Flock Members can plate their meals on the third-base line for two hours and 30 minutes from the time gates open.

“We operate one of, if not the largest restaurant in the state of North Dakota 36 nights of the year,” said VP of Operations Nate Maddox. “Our restaurant happens to be outdoors in the sun, wind, and sometimes rain. While preparing this quantity of food is not an easy feat to accomplish, we are proud of the strides we are making to create a more consistent experience for fans.”

Bismarck Distillery is returning once again to sell its fan-favorite products like Huckleberry Lemonade and Bourbon Cola, but fans can expect an even bigger selection. Their products can be found at any beer outlet with an updated menu, and the largest selection can be found at the Bismarck Distillery outlet on the First Base side.

The CHI St. Alexius Fun Zone is also going to be in a new spot. It is no longer by the hockey rink, and will instead be found in the practice area behind the outfield wall. The area will also feature a much longer place to play on grass with new inflatables, games, and activities for kids.

The team is starting the first 32 days of the season with 22 home games, and the first homestand has theme nights. ‘Bulletin Tuesday’ is on May 28, Woof Wednesday with Bat Dog from Elevate Canine Academy on May 29, Missouri River Motorboaters Night on May 30, Firework Friday on May 31, and ‘To Infinity & Beyond Night’ on June 1.
