BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — Next week, family and friends will gather to say goodbye to Lloyd Liken, the man who was part of a five-month missing person search.

Liken’s body was found by a farmer north of Steele earlier this week.

Liken had been missing since November when he had joined friends for dinner at a home in Bismarck but never made it home.

Travis Bateman with Badlands Search and Rescue says he estimates Liken had driven a little over 90 miles before his vehicle got stuck in a slough on private property about 30 miles north of Steele.

Bateman says Liken’s vehicle was nearly a mile from the nearest road, not visible to anyone driving by.

“There’s a lot to come back on. I know, talking with Lisa and Chad, she’s hell-bent on fixing this so the next family doesn’t have to go through this, you know, at a legislative level,” Bateman said. “So, he’s going to leave a legacy behind, there’s no doubt about that. Lloyd, in my opinion, is going to help save lives down the road.”

Bateman says their efforts now turn to help find other missing people including Breeanna Ward and Roger Shelton from Williston and Renee Arcand from Glendive.

Liken’s service will happen on Tuesday morning at 10:30 at McCabe United Methodist Church in Bismarck. His burial will happen at 1 p.m. at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
