BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WIAT ) — Students from several schools came to Wednesday’s game between the Birmingham Barons and Rocket City Trash Pandas for School Day at Regions Field.

Helena Intermediate School student Brylee Campbell said it was important she attended Wednesday’s Barons game.

“I’m going to be playing softball next year,” Campbell said. “I want to do pitch, but I also want to bat. So my main thing is batting.”

Board to vote on removing Lauren Dressback from Vestavia Hills Elementary Cahaba Heights, placing her at alternative school

While Campbell was hoping to take away some tips that would help her at the game, other students were happy to be away from the classroom.

“It feels great,” said i3 Academy student Dekarion Tolbert. “I don’t have to sit in a classroom all day and do things, and I’m happy. I can come out here and watch my favorite team play.”

“I think it makes me feel happy,” said Bragg Middle School student Journee Clark. “I do enjoy my education but just being able to hang out with my friends have a good time.”

The Barons will hold another School Day at Regions Field on May 15.
