Downtown by Chef Jay opens rooftop bar

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) — One of downtown Binghamton’s most popular new eateries is taking it to another level starting this weekend.

Downtown by Chef Jay Pisculli is opening its rooftop bar tonight. The bar features frozen cocktails, canned cocktails, New York wines by the glass and Beer Tree brews on tap. For those looking for a bite to eat, there will be a snack menu of premade plates ready to purchase.

Dishes include shrimp cocktail, hummus crudité and seared tuna tataki. General Manager Arianna Ortega says customers have been clamoring for the rooftop to open.

“I would say that ever since we hit 75 degrees, every day everyone has asked. We’re really excited for this weekend since it’s going to be the first time,” Ortega said.

“Casual, laid-back, just having fun. Even just having a couple of drinks after work on a Friday or just looking for a place to hang out with some people. It’s a new spot for everyone in Binghamton to enjoy,” Executive Chef Jay Pisculli added.

The rooftop will be hosting live music on Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Tonight, Friday, May 24, local musician Matthew Cornwell will perform. The rooftop will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 4 to midnight and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.

It’s available to rent for private parties on other nights. Pisculli says he may also hold some special themed nights on the rooftop as well.
