Goodwill Theatre Stardust Gala features two-time Tony nominee

BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – The Goodwill Theatre is pulling out the glitz and glam for a party featuring a 2-time Tony nominee.

The Goodwill’s Stardust Gala takes place this Saturday at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Binghamton.

In addition to cocktails, dinner and desert, the event features a cabaret performance by Broadway actress Kate Baldwin.

Baldwin has spent 27 years on Broadway, tours the country singing with orchestras and is a veteran of the New York City cabaret scene.

She says she likes to converse with the audience between songs so that she gets to know them better and they get to know her.

“I always try to make what I’m talking about as universal as possible and hopefully make it as entertaining and as funny as possible. I think that when people come to a cabaret evening, they’re looking to be entertained, they’re looking to feel invited in, they’re looking to recognize themselves in some of the material that I’m doing and in some of the stories that I’m telling too,” she said.

Baldwin plans to sing selections from her roles in Hello Dolly and Finian’s Rainbow as well as songs by Sondheim, Rogers and Hammerstein and Carole King.

The evening begins at 6 p.m. Saturday with a cocktail hour followed by dinner, dessert and the performance.

Snazzy cocktail attire is encouraged.
