    Binghamton man sentenced to 7 years for attacking woman with a metal baseball bat

    BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man was sentenced to prison on Friday for a November 2022 assault.

    Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Josie Valdes-Pica of Binghamton was sentenced to 7 years in prison, followed by 5 years post-release supervision for Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Assault in the Third Degree.

    On November 7, 2022, Valdes-Pica struck a woman multiple times with a metal baseball bat.

    “My foremost commitment is to the safety and well-being of Broome County residents. I
    believe that individuals who commit violent and egregious acts must face the full weight of
    accountability for their actions. My dedication remains unwavering in the pursuit of ensuring
    our streets are secure from those who perpetrate violence, and in seeking justice for victims
    of domestic violence,” said Battisti.
