Cinco de Mayo weekend at Iron Agave

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. ( WIVT/WBGH ) — A downtown Tex-Mex restaurant is going all in on Cinco de Mayo with what it’s calling Cuatro Fiestas.

Iron Agave is planning four nights of celebrations beginning tonight with a tequila pairing dinner. For $55 guests get a 3 course pre-fixe meal with different high-end tequilas introduced by a tequila expert. Friday evening, there will be live salsa dancing along with salsa lessons for beginners.

On Saturday night, there will be live Latin rock music from the Syracuse area band Grupo Pagan.
And on Sunday, the 5th of May itself, AP Entertainment will provide a Cinco de Mayo trivia and Latin music night.

Owner Dan Polhamus says he and his partners have been counting the days since they opened on Court Street last December.

“We’ve had this marked on the calendar for awhile. You open up a Mexican place, or a Tex-Mex place, you kind of circle Cinco de Mayo. I’ve been joking around, this is our Super Bowl. This is what we’re here for. This is our first one and we’re ready to take the training wheels right off.”
