BINGHAMTON, NY (WIVT/WBGH) – Hundreds of runners will make their way through Binghamton streets during this weekend’s premiere race.
Sunday marks the 14th annual Greater Binghamton Bridge Run.
The course wraps around the City of Binghamton, going over four bridges and under one.
The event features a half marathon, a two-person half relay, 5K, double challenge, and the kids run.
The Bridge Run will start and end at Mirabito Stadium, with the post-race party being held in the Fayette Street Parking Lot by the Lackawanna Train Station.
Stacey Duncan is the CEO of the Leadership Alliance and says the number of runners registered for Sunday is the most they’ve had in recent years.
CEO of the Leadership Alliance, Stacey Duncan says, “It is Cinco De Mayo, a fun celebratory day, so what a great day this year. And, I am so thrilled that we will have, it has been a long time since we’ve had some of these numbers, we will have over twelve-hundred runners for both the half-marathon and 5K. We are reaching some of our early years, we’re climbing back up.”
Registration for the Bridge Run closes at midnight tonight, but you can still volunteer as a road marshal, or donate to this year’s charity partner, the Astor D. Rice Foundation.
The race expo will take place on Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m. at Five South College Drive on SUNY Broome’s campus.
Motorists in Binghamton should expect traffic restrictions and delays from 7 to 11 a.m. on Sunday.
