Checking in on athletes from Section 4 getting it done at the next level:

    Caden Olmstead, Chenango Forks/Siena

Olmstead was on April 26 identified as the fifth Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year in program history as voted by the conference’s head lacrosse coaches.

A sophomore who sat out the 2023 season with an injury, he was also named to the MAAC’s second team as an attack after scoring the third-most goals (37) among all players.

He ranked sixth in conference points per game (3.36) and sixth in shots (108). He tied for third in conference play with 8.89 shots per game, fifth in points per game (2.56) and ninth in scoring (3.11 per game).

A day after receiving those honors, Olmstead contributed two goals and an assist as the Saints defeated reigning MAAC champion Marist, 12-9, in a playoff quarterfinal.

In two wins that week, Kintner had 10 draw controls, nine caused turnovers and nine ground balls.

With Saturday’s 15-11 win over Mercyhurst, the Griffins clinched the program’s fourth consecutive PSAC Western Division championship. They’ll host the May 10-12 PSAC Championship Tournament.

To help coach Edith Gallagher achieve her 500 th win in the season finale, Demo was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run in a 6-4 victory over Shippensburg. Included was an RBI double in the fourth inning.
