BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – For the fourth year in a row, marijuana consumers are celebrating the legalization of recreational cannabis use with a daring event.

The 4th Annual Smoke Weed Outside of the Binghamton Police Station is returning to downtown Binghamton on April 20.

The event began in 2021 after New York became the 15th state to legalize marijuana. It pays homage to those who have been criminalized for marijuana related offenses and serves a way to teach the community about harm reduction and social justice.

The event will begin at 4:20 p.m. It features live music and free snacks as well as free Narcan training, information sessions from community organizations, and guest speakers.

Group organizers are reminding those looking to attend that legally, you cannot have more than three ounces of marijuana in your possession. Attendees are also encouraged to have a safe, sober designated driver.

You must be 21 or older to attend this event.
