Oct. 7: I-65 Closures Coming; I-24 Toll Lanes Lawsuit

INTERSTATE CLOSURES: Repairs to the Hamilton Avenue Bridge over Interstate 65 in Davidson County will commence this week and will require regular lane closures and — at times — a full shutdown of a section of the interstate. Work will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday, and all southbound lanes from the I-40 interchange to near the I-440 interchange will close around midnight to remove signs. Intermittent nightly closures (8 p.m.-5 a.m.) will create heavy traffic and require detours. Demolition of the bridge will require a full shutdown of the interstate in both directions, and is scheduled to take place from 8 p.m. on Oct. 16 through 5 a.m. on Oct. 19. All work is weather-dependent. The project is scheduled for completion in December. Message boards and signs will alert motorists to closures. — David Boclair.
