Sunnyside schools temporarily lock down for nearby gunshots
SUNNYSIDE, Wash. - Two schools in Sunnyside went into lockdown Monday afternoon for a report of nearby gunshots, according to the Sunnyside School District. Sierra Vista Middle School and Sun Valley Elementary School both locked down at 2:27 p.m. Students at Sierra Vista had already been released for the day.

Alleged copper wire thief is nabbed
BOARDMAN – Jesus Alejandro Cardenas Garcia, 45, was arrested Monday by the Boardman Police Department for allegedly stealing copper wire from Union Pacific. Morrow County District Attorney Justin Nelson arraigned the suspect on first-degree theft and first-degree criminal trespass in Morrow County Circuit Court Monday. He also notified the court that the state will seek enhancement facts in the theft. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for May 23.
Eastmont advances with 1-0 win over Wenatchee

The Grizzlies are the champs and punched their ticket to state with a 1-nil win over Davis. Eastmont advanced to face Davis with a 1-nil win over Wenatchee. Grandview sophomore wins 2024 Congressional Art Competition
WASHINGTON, D.C.-The winners of the 2024 Congressional Art Competition for high school students in Washington's 4th District were announced on May 9. Destiny Lepe, a 10th grader at Grandview High won for her painting "Grand-view," while Davis High senior Ruby Morales Soto finished second with "A Snails Mission" and Ivonne Oropeza, a junior at Grandview came in third for "Seven."
