Man injured Wednesday afternoon in K-10 crash in Douglas County
LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - One person was taken to a local hospital after a single-vehicle crash Monday afternoon on K-10 highway in Douglas County, officials said. The crash was reported at 4;23 p.m. Wednesday on K-10 highway just south of Interstate 70 along the Kansas Turnpike. The location was on the west side of Lawrence.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Two four-year-olds are being praised tonight for alerting adults to a Central Topeka house fire. “I said Mommy there’s a fire” said Amias. Four-year-olds Ma’Lena and Amias say they looked out of the window Wednesday morning to see their neighbor’s home in flames.
Property tax petition gains traction in Topeka
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - A petition that would require a public vote before the city collects more property tax revenue than the year before is gaining traction. 13 News last reported on the permission petition just over two months ago. Since then, the number of signatures on it has more than doubled from 1,100 to 3,900.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - SW Washburn Ave. over Shunga Creek is expected to be completed by June in Topeka, Kan. According to the City of Topeka officials, the bridge project on SW Washburn Ave./Burlingame Rd. over Shunga Creek between SW 26th St. and SW Shunga Dr. is expected to be complete by June 7, weather permitting. The road will reopen when work is complete.

West Ridge Mall management chooses two architect firms to work together for renovation project
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - West Ridge Mall management has selected two architect firms to work in tandem for the renovation project. According to Advisors Excel officials, West Ridge Mall owners, Advisors Excel Co-Founders Cody Foster and David Callanan, and Lead Developer Terrence Maiden of Russell Glen have selected two architectural firms to work jointly on the mall’s transformation. RDC will be responsible for the retail, entertainment and restaurant components with Hufft focusing on Advisors Excel’s new headquarters.
