Warren faces charges after chase
MARION COUNTY — Thomas Donald Warren, 39, of Nauvoo, was arrested on Friday, April 12, at approximately 11 p.m. by the Marion County Sheriff’s Department. His multiple charges include felony attempting to elude, third-degree criminal mischief, possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, two counts of failure to stop at a stop sign, four counts of failure to signal, switched tag, no tail lights and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Subject of Walker County manhunt captured
A man who ran from deputies last Wednesday was caught Saturday afternoon. The Walker County Sheriff's Office says 32-year-old Aaron Clay Sartain of Oakman was taken into custody on Dixie Spring Road in Oakman. Sartain was wanted for probation violation and two counts of destruction of state property.

WINFIELD — Gloria Stovall, who served on the Winfield City Council for 12 years as the second woman to hold the position, passed away at home on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Stovall, who was 79, grew up in Winfield. She was born in 1944 to her parents Brody and Addine Rose. They were members of Winfield Church of Christ.
Lady Pirates win county tournament
HAMILTON — The Winfield Lady Pirates softball team are the Marion County tournament champions after a 5-3 win over the Hamilton Lady Aggies on Saturday, April 6. The tournament began the night before and opened with a game between the Lady Pirates and the Phillips She-Bears, which Winfield won 17-0.
Duncanville man killed in single-vehicle crash Sunday in Tuscaloosa County
A 32-year-old Duncanville man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Sunday in Tuscaloosa County. Dominique L. Ellis, was fatally injured when the 2005 Toyota Camry he was driving left the roadway and struck several trees. Troopers said Ellis was not using a seat belt and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
