    Bernards High School Recognizes Mary McDowell as May's "Everyday Hero"!

    BERNARDSVILLE, NJ - Mary McDowell, a junior at Bernards High School, has been recognized by the school as the “Everyday Hero” for May!

    Nominees for the monthly Everyday Hero Program are students who have a positive influence on the student body through exemplary qualities. Selected students inspire others, are responsible and respectable and have a commitment to peers and the school community. Students are nominated by one or more teachers, selected by the Everyday Hero committee and announced schoolwide by either Principal Scott Neigel, or Assistant Principal Mike Corbett.

    Mary McDowell is truly a human firecracker! She walks into a room and there is an immediate explosion of positivity; great vibes exude and a lightheartedness enters with her. The impact of Mary’s joy spreads across the entire classroom. Over the course of the year, teachers have witnessed otherwise quiet and reserved students break out of their shells as a result of her exuberance. Mary makes learning fun and engaging for all of her classmates. She is kind to everyone she encounters and does her best to put a smile on everyone’s face, even when it's not Friday!

    Mary also goes above and beyond in the community. Mary has hosted numerous fundraisers for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Hope Heals. She is such a positive influence on her peers! As a peer leader she always takes the extra steps to make the freshman feel welcomed! Mary leaves a really big wake in her path, in the best way possible!
