Angie Gianoli ahead by wide margin in Reno judge race
Angie Gianoli had 65% of the vote in the race against Jenny Hubach for Reno Municipal Court judge. Hubach had 35% of the vote as of Wednesday morning. Most ballots had been counted, with counting of the remaining ballots set to resume at 8 a.m. Gianoli had received 46,785 votes, compared with 25,372 for Hubach. Homelessness, public safety and court accessibility were among the key issues discussed during the campaign for the open seat on Reno Municipal Court. The court handles city ordinance violations, traffic citations and misdemeanor criminal offenses that occur within Reno city limits. Both Gianoli, a deputy city attorney, and Hubach, a criminal defense attorney, brought decades of legal experience to the race. This was Gianoli's first run for elected office. She currently serves as a deputy city attorney for the city of Reno. The 46-year-old said during the campaign that her experience gave her an advantage over her opponent. "Both my opponent and I have experience, but the best measure of experience is the relevancy of that experience to the position you seek," she told the Reno Gazette Journal. If elected, Gianoli said she would focus on fair treatment and support specialty court programs that combine
