One sledding hill near Reno sits roughly 15 minutes from town, and the price to play there is zero dollars. I had to read that twice. Then it got better. Up the same mountain highway, one meadow has a sledding hill on one side and a snowmobile area across the road.

Bay Area chain known for $1.99 burgers teases first Reno location
View this post on Instagram A Bay Area fast-food chain known for its cheap $1.99 burger is coming to Reno. Campus Burgers just teased a video showing an empty location at the University Crossing retail center on the corner of Maple and North Virginia streets in downtown Reno. On the video — which was shared at Campus Burgers’ official Facebook and Instagram accounts — were the words “The $1.99 burger is crossing state lines. Reno, Nevada.” Founded in 2024, Campus Burgers opened its first location near San Jose State University. Since then, the chain has expanded to include one more San Jose store plus locations in Berkeley, Gilroy, Davis and San Diego. The aesthetic of Campus Burgers’ restaurants is reminiscent of In-N-Out Burger, with the same classic look and red-and-white scheme for its interior and menus. Unlike In-N-Out’s beefier size and accoutrements, however, Campus Burgers sport a more minimalist approach and serves thinner smashburgers. New store openings for Campus Burgers have typically seen big crowds eager to sample its trademark affordable burger. Here is a list of Campus Burgers’ menu staples : Burger, $1.99 Cheeseburger, $2.99 Double Burger, $3.99 Double Cheese Burger, $4.99 Double Jalapeño Cheeseburger, $5.99 French Fries, $3.99

In the middle of the new Light Circus Nevada Neon Museum, two iconic cowboy signs once separated by hundreds of miles — the Mapes Hotel “M” and The Pioneer Club’s Vegas Vic — stood side by side. Just a few feet away, Bucky Buckaroo from Reno's former Nevada Club sported a mischievous smile. Bucky’s grin perfectly captured what was going through Reno native Will Durham’s mind as he recalled the quarter-century journey that led to his unlikely collection of Silver State memorabilia. “When I was first doing this, people would ask, ‘Why are you doing this?,’” the museum's executive director recounted. “I said, ‘I don’t know, maybe it’s a really bad idea.’” That “bad idea” has since turned into an electric collection of 50 iconic signs from across the state, from the iconic Tropicana Las Vegas to Reno coffee shop and college hangout Deux Gros Nez. The signs bring back memories for the people who grew up with them and the bygone institutions they once illuminated. “This stuff means something,” Durham said. “When people
