Jamaican eatery opens in new location in Bennington

BENNINGTON, Vt. ( NEWS10 ) — After closing at its original location in November, Island Flavor has found a new spot in Bennington. The Jamaican restaurant is now located at 1001 Main Street in the former Krijnen Bakery space.

Anique Gilpin and her mother Joan opened Island Flavor in September 2022 at 512 Main Street in Bennington. The eatery then closed in November 2023 for the move.

Island Flavor had its soft opening in its new location on April 30. The restaurant has both savory and sweet offerings including braised oxtail, curried goat and chicken, jerk and stew chicken, fish, vegetarian options, Korean shaved ice, cake slices, and more.

With the new space, Island Flavor also sells produce and souvenirs and is planning on having game nights and events. The restaurant is now offering dine-in, take-out, and delivery.

Island Flavor is open Sunday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The owners are planning a grand opening celebration at the end of May.
