Deceased Man Found in Missouri River Last Resided in Sioux City
(Omaha, NE) -- The body of a 43-year old-man found this week in the Missouri River is identified as that of Julio Alberto Estrada-Aguirre. Investigators say he was last a resident of Sioux City, Iowa. The Douglas County Sheriff's office says they notified family members, who are living outside of the U.S., before releasing the man's identity. A cause of death has not been announced.
Two suspects caught on video shooting 11 rounds into multiple north Omaha homes
OMAHA, Neb. — An outburst of gunfire that hit a couple of Omaha homes was caught on camera. Omaha police are looking for the people responsible. In the video, an SUV that had a couple people inside can be seen as they pull into a neighborhood just north of 45th Avenue and Fort Street.
Omaha Police investigating pair of overnight homicides
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police are looking into a pair of overnight homicides. The first incident happened just before 8 p.m. Friday at 9th Street and Carter Blvd. Officers were called to a report of a down party near a motorcycle. They arrived to find Bernard Leonard, 59, of Omaha, unresponsive with a gunshot wound.
Motorcyclist crashes bike, accused of spitting on staff in emergency room
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - An Omaha man was taken into custody Thursday after Lincoln Police said he crashed his motorcycle and then spit on staff while in an emergency room. On May 6 around 2 a.m., Lincoln Police responded to a motorcycle crash at 70th and Douglas streets. LPD said 40-year-old Jeremy Wilcox of Omaha was traveling northbound on 70th Street when he lost control of his motorcycle and was ejected. Wilcox was transported to a local hospital for his injuries.
Omaha man arrested in connection with gas station robbery, attempted robbery
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Omaha Police have arrested a man they say is connected to a robbery and attempted robbery that occurred just hours apart Thursday morning. The first incident happened around 1:20 a.m. at the QuikTrip on the corner of Saddle Creek and Leavenworth. A store employee told officers a Black male jumped the counter and took an undetermined amount of money from the register before fleeing in a dark-colored sedan, later identified as a tan 2006 Honda Accord.
Man who shot officer at Omaha mall sentenced to decades in prison
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A man convicted of shooting and injuring a police officer at Omaha’s Westroads Mall in 2021 learned his sentence Wednesday. Kenya Jenkins, 25, was sentenced to a total of 55-75 years in prison after pleading guilty to one count assault on an officer and one count use of a weapon to commit a felony. Jenkins was given credit for nearly 40 months served.
Three accused in north Omaha murder headed to trial
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - Three Omaha men accused of murder will remain in custody until trial. Investigators say two of them fired at least 19 shots at the victim. The homicide happened last month at 24th and Ohio Streets. Investigators say Artrell Evans, 30, was gunned down in his vehicle when an SUV pulled up next to him in the wrong lane on Ohio Street. Video captured 19 muzzle flashes from two guns firing from the SUV’s passenger side into the vehicle Evans was driving, according to prosecutors.

Trial date set for Omaha doctor charged with manslaughter in fatal crash
OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A trial date has been set for the Omaha doctor accused of manslaughte. Dr. Mark Carlson is facing felony charges in connection to a head-on crash on Dodge Street that killed 22-year-old Anna Bosma of Sioux Falls. She was the driver. Her boyfriend, who was in the passenger seat, survived the crash. Bosma had just started graduate school.
