BELOIT — The home cooking wasn’t quite so tasty for the Beloit Sky Carp on Tuesday afternoon.

After winning eight of their first nine games at ABC Supply Stadium, the Sky Carp couldn’t produce any offense against the first-place Quad Cities River Bandits, losing 6-0.

Beloit fell behind 1-0 in the third. The River Bandits tacked on two runs with two outs in the fifth inning and put the game away with a three-run seventh.

The Sky Carp managed only two hits off a trio of River Bandits pitchers, led by starter Owen Hart, who threw six one-hit innings.

Jacob Miller (1-2) was saddled with the loss despite allowing only one run in his four innings of work. Alex Williams allowed two runs in his two innings and Holt Jones was touched for three runs in 2-3 of an inning.

Tyler Eckberg tossed 1 1-3 innings of scoreless ball and Edgar Sanchez finished up with a scoreless ninth.

Beloit had an excellent chance to score first when Josh Zamora led off the second inning with a double to center. Hart then struck out Torin Montgomery, retired Jake DeLeo on a lineout to left and struck out Jorge Caballero.

Carter Jensen walked with one out in the Quad Cities third inning. He was retired when Trevor Werner grounded into a forceout. Brett Squires followed with a single and Kale Emshoff collected an RBI single to right.

Williams came on to work the fifth inning and struck out the first two batters. He walked Werner who proceeded to steal second base. After Squires walked, Emshoff struck again with a two-run double to left.

The River Bandits broke out the long ball in the seventh against reliever Jones. Jensen drew a one-out walk and Werner homered to left for a 5-0 lead. It became 6-0 when the next batter, Squires, homered to center.

Quad Cities loaded the bases with two walks and a hit batsman, but Eckberg came on to strike out Jean Ramirez to end the inning.

Reliever Chazz Martinez allowed a one-out single by Jake Thompson in the ninth inning, extending the Sky Carps' hitting streak to seven games.
