BELOIT, WI (WTVO/WQRF) — The Beloit Sky Carp’s 12-game homestand got off to a slow start Tuesday afternoon at ABC Supply Stadium. The Carp were shutout by the Quad Cities River Bandits 6-0.

Lefty Hunter Owen was too much for the Sky Carp. Owen allowed only one hit in six innings of work while striking out six batters. He improved his record to 3-0 and his earned run average to 1.96. Owen was a fourth-round draft pick by the Royals last year.

The Sky Carp got a solid outing from their starting pitcher Jacob Miller. He went four innings allowing four hits and one run while striking out four batters.

Quad Cities DH Kale Ernshoff had two hits, and he drove in three runs.

At 16-6 the River Bandits have the best record in the Midwest League. The Sky Carp are 11-10. The Sky Carp will host the River Bandits five more times this week. They’ll take next Monday off and then they’ll host the Peoria Chiefs for six games for a season-high 12-game homestand.
