BELOIT, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice is investigating an officer involved death in the City of Beloit Sunday Morning.

According to Wisconsin DOJ, at around 9:46 A.M., officers from the Beloit Police Department responded to an incident in the 1700 block of Ashland Avenue.

DOJ says officers observed a subject with two bladed weapons advancing towards another individual and instructed the subject to put the weapons down but the subject did not comply. An officer discharged their firearm, hitting the subject.

Life saving measures were performed and the subject was taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

DOJ says the involved officer is on administrative leave, per agency policy and involved law enforcement were wearing body cameras during the incident.

DCI is leading investigation and will turn over investigative reports to the Rock County District Attorney when the investigation is concluded.
