Authorities converged on a Belingham apartment complex Monday and arrested a suspect in a recent stabbing incident who now faces a potential charge of attempted murder.

Andre Marcel Siftsoff, 25, was arrested in the Mount Baker Apartments on Champion Street in Bellingham around 2 p.m. Monday, according to Megan Peters with the Bellingham Police Department. There was a large police presence to make the arrest, including armed law enforcement on the roof of the building.

According to police, Siftsoff was driving around Alabama Street and Queen Street on Friday night when he saw a party and decided to crash it. When it became clear he did not know anyone at the party, he was asked to leave and was escorted out by Benjamin Valladolid, 27.

Witnesses told police that Valladolid was stabbed multiple times by Siftsoff while he was escorting Siftsoff out of the party. Siftsoff fled the scene immediately, and police responded around 11:15 p.m.

Valladolid was in satisfactory condition at St. Joseph Medical Center in Bellingham as of Monday, according to Anne Williams, communications specialist at the hospital.

Bellingham investigators learned Siftsoff was likely at the Mount Baker Apartment building and went into the building with a SWAT team. Siftsoff was arrested without incident on suspicion of second-degree attempted murder. He remains in custody at Whatcom County Jail.

Police posted about the arrest on Facebook when it was resolved.
