LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Downtown Lake Charles will be full of classic cars this weekend as part of a fundraiser for the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Association. Work begins on lifting coastal homes to protect from future flooding
LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - Nearly 3,500 structures in Calcasieu, Cameron and Vermillion parishes are being considered to be lifted to protect them from future flooding. Back in 2016, a feasibility study was done by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to identify eligible structures as part of their flood risk reduction program. The project aims to reduce the risk of flooding for homes and businesses in flood plains in our area by raising or dry-proofing them.
