Grass fire near Kenedy evaded the recent winds
Shortly before 4 p.m. on Tuesday May 28th a small grass fire broke out of unknown origins at the EOG Duncan-Mills location around the area of 3825 CR 240. The fire began around the flare tower. A large plume of black smoke could be seen for miles as the fire that was near empty 300-gallon plastic totes caught fire. Thirty of the totes were stacked together causing the fire to look more monstrous than it looked.
David Ainsworth Jr. joins George West City Council
The George West City Council met on May 28, and the first order of business was to swear in newly elected and reelected city council members. Ceremony marks SMACS 6th grade graduation
On Wednesday May 24, St. Mary’s graduated its 6th grade class in a touching ceremony. The cafeteria was elegantly decorated adding to the festive atmosphere. The cafeteria was filled with parents, siblings, grandparents, friends and faculty members. The students entered the cafeteria in full regalia to the traditional Pomp and Circumstance. Valedictorian Huntington Smith and salutatorian Serenity Gottshall were seated on the stage with Trittena “Denese” Martin and Veronica Moron, the sixth grade teachers.

Woodsboro resident shoots two dogs
A Woodsboro resident shot two dogs that were allegedly attacking the resident’s cat on May 29, according to a post on the Woodsboro Police Department Facebook page.
