Colchester boys lacrosse beats Fairfax bullets; leads with strong offense
FAIRFAX — The Colchester Lakers boys varsity lacrosse team visited the Fairfax bullets on Saturday, June 1. The Lakers came out with a hard-fought 11-8 win on the day. BFA-Fairfax got on the scoreboard first when Shayne Meunier scored a short-handed goal halfway through the first quarter. Mason Cardinal scored the equalizer for Colchester with 5:45 to play. Less than a minute later, Jackson Bouchard scored the go-ahead goal for the Lakers. The Bullets went on the power play and capitalized with a goal from Meunier to knot the game at two. Both teams traded goals to finish out the quarter, with Tristan Metruk scoring his first of four goals in the game and Colchester’s Issac Karlin netting one past goalie Max Mills. The Bullets and Lakers headed into the second quarter tied 3-3.

Peru youth football program pays tribute to Coach Jeremy Davis
PERU, N.Y. — Peru's youth football program, the Peru American Football League (Peru AFL), took time to honor one of its coaches who passed away. Jeremy Davis, who worked for close to two years as a volunteer coach for the Peru AFL, passed away on Monday, May 27. Peru AFL gave Davis a tribute post on the team's Facebook account saying, "He will be missed by our Tackle B family ... a big thank you to Coach Davis for volunteering his time for the betterment of our youth football program over the years."
