BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The Class of 2024 high school and college graduates visited their elementary school, St. Francis de Sales Catholic School, for a special ceremony on Wednesday, May 2, 2024.

Seniors wore their graduation garb and walked the hallway of St. Francis while current St. Francis students and staff cheered and offered handmade posters of congratulations. Later, they posed for photos with school staff and parents on the front lawn.

LaMya Walker, 17, who was anticipating her graduation from Woodrow Wilson High School on Saturday, May 25, 2024, said the event brought back good memories.

“It made me really happy,” said Walker. “Even though I didn’t finish my whole first grade year, I was here for second grade. It made me think about how me and my mom did our talent show together and all the Christmas shows we had and all the field trips we took together and how many amazing friends that I met here and that I’m still friends with now.”
