BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — The senior class at Woodrow Wilson High School in Raleigh County is set to graduate next month.

Students are planning a safe graduation party, and they are asking the public to help. Project Graduation is a series of fundraisers the senior class hosts to pay for the end-of-year party.

Seniors said on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, that they want to throw one last class party to be held at the YMCA of Southern West Virginia immediately following their graduation ceremony.

The party will offer food, swimming, and other activities as well as gifts for graduates.

“That night we’re going to be at the YMCA downtown and have a pool party and food and a few other things, you know, if we can get some money,” said WWHS Student Body President Cam Johnson. “That’s more of why we’re doing this.”

Students said the public can help by sending donations and attending multiple fundraisers the class is hosting until graduation.

“You can go on Facebook and there should be links to like everything you need to know, where to sign up and how to raise money,” said Lennon Harvey, a senior.

The students have planned a number of fundraising events, including a “Zombie Run,” which allows folks to get chased through a wooded trail by zombies.

A 5-K Fun Run is set for Saturday, April 20, 2024, at the Paul Cline Memorial Youth Sports Complex in Beckley.
