It’s official, prior Southridge, Mountainside and most recently, Stanford star basketball player Cameron Brink is headed to the WNBA.

The 6-foot-4 post from Beaverton was the second player taken overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft held Monday night, April 15, at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Brink was selected by the Los Angeles Sparks and taken behind Iowa’s Caitlin Clark who was — as predicted — selected No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever.

The 22-year-old Stanford star played a key role in the Cardinal’s 2021 national championship run as a freshman, twice earned Pac-12 Player of the Year honors, and this past season earned the Lisa Leslie Award as the NCAA’s best center, the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year award, and was both an AP and USBWA First Team All-American.

Prior to Stanford, Brink was thrice named the Oregonian’s 6A Player of the Year, earned the USA Today Oregon Player of the Year in 2019, and was a McDonald’s All-American in 2020.

She was part of two state championship teams while at Southridge High School and helped Mountainside High School to the state quarterfinals her senior season.

This past season at Stanford, Brink averaged 17.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and nearly four blocks per game.

The Los Angeles Sparks finished with a record of 17-23 in 2023, and have won three championships (2001, 2002, 2016) in the franchise’s 27 seasons. They tip-off the 2024 season on May 15 versus Atlanta.
