Mailbox vandalism in Bissell's Point in Barton Co.
The Barton County Sheriff’s office is seeking information in reference to multiple cases of vandalism on NE 30 Road, in the Bissell’s Point subdivision. At about 1 a.m. on May 9, 2024, unknown persons damaged approximately 15 mailboxes in that area. The Sheriff’s Office believes individuals were on foot and were in the area for an extended period of time. The damage is estimated to be greater than $2,000.
Great Bend students awarded bikes for perfect attendance
Twenty-five elementary students, and one preschool student, earned a set of wheels this week, achieving perfect attendance for the 2023-2024 school year. The Perfect Attendance Bike Program has awarded bikes for over 13 years to encourage students to attend school every day in Great Bend USD 428 elementary schools. Assemblies were held at all 5 elementary buildings to celebrate the students’ accomplishments with their peers, teachers, and families.

TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Temperatures have risen in NE Kansas over the last several days, with even greater increases to come as we approach the weekend. With highs in the 70s across the region, Thursday has been a bit warmer and much drier than what we saw earlier this week. This a trend that will continue into this weekend, with temperatures increasing further into the 80s and sunny skies remaining a consistent fixture. Humidity will be low and winds will be light through at least Sunday, giving NE Kansas a good stretch of warm weather without drawbacks.

BTK Killer Remains A Suspect In Oklahoma Disappearance
A notorious Kansas serial killer currently locked up in prison for 10 murders he committed is still a suspect in a decades-old disappearance in Oklahoma. Osage County, Oklahoma, Sheriff Eddie Virden says BTK killer Dennis Rader remains a top suspect in the disappearance of Cynthia Kinney. The 16-year-old Kinney was last seen at the Osage Laundry in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, in 1976.
