Old Hwy 11 closure, short power outage scheduled for Tuesday night

LAMAR COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A portion of Old Highway 11 in Lamar County will be closed late Tuesday night. The Lamar County Road Department says the closure will include an hour-long power outage for about 20 homes. The power company will be unhooking old power lines and replacing them.

Sims Road to close April 6 for months-long bridge replacement in Forrest County

FORREST COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - For thousands of drivers, Sims Road is part of their daily routine, but that routine is about to change. “On Monday, April 6th, Sims Road will close,” said Board of Supervisors member Gentry Mordica. “It’s a main corridor between the east side of the county, Petal area and going South to the industrial park, Camp Shelby and Highway 98. It’s a high traffic count road, but the bridge has been deemed poor by the state. So we have to close it and rebuild it.”
