    On the Pitch: Week 6 girls soccer top 10

    The weather is picture perfect this week as girls soccer is heading down the home stretch as April ends and May starts mid week..  The regular season ends on May 15th.

    The No.4 team in Division 2 is in the middle of a 6 match road trip with a;; of them coming against ranked teams.  They are currently 2-1 with the loss coming to No. 2 Saint Mark’s on Friday.  This week they head to No. 1 Caravel and two more ranked  teams.  This schedule will help them when the state tournament starts mid May.

    There are 2 undefeated teams in the state this season: Middletown and Caravel after  Saint Marks lost in overtime to Caravel and  Sussex Academy lost to Saint Mark’s.  Middletown has No. 2 Appoquinimink on their schedule this week.  Caravel has Sussex Academy and Padua this week.

    Here is the week 2 Delaware Live Rankings after the sixth week of competition.

    Division 1

    No. 1 Middletown (8-0)(LW No, 1) The Cavs defeated Newark  and Wilmington Charter last week to remain unbeaten.  They host Mount Pleasant on Wednesday and No. 2 Appoquinimink on Friday night.

    No. 2 Appoquinimink (8-1)(LW No. 2) The Jags beat Christiana  and William Penn last week.  They travel to No. 1 Middletown on Friday night for a Division 1 state title rematch.

    No.3 Sussex Tech (6-2-2)(LW No. 3) The Ravens went 0-1-1 last week with a 0-0 tie vs Dover and a 4-0 loss to  Division 2 No. 3 Sussex Academy.  They host No. 6 Caesar Rodney on Tuesday and travel to Sussex Central on Thursday.

    No.4  Polytech (5-1-2)(LW No. 4) The Panthers beat Sussex Central last week in a Henlopen North match.  They host Milford on Tuesday before finishing the week with a pair of road contests against Cape Henlopen on Thursday and FSMA on Friday.

    No. 5 Padua (4-5)(LW No. 5) The Pandas beat rival Ursuline last week.  They host Indian River on Monday and travel to Division 1 No. 1 Caravel on Wednesday.

    No. 6 Caesar Rodney (7-3)(LW No. 6) The Riders went 2-1 last week with wins over Cape Henlopen and Delmar.   They lost 4-0 to  Division 2 No. 3 Archmere.  They travel to No. 3 Sussex Tech on Tuesday and host Smyrna on Thursday.

    No. 7 Odessa (6-2-1)(LW No. 7) The Ducks went 1-0 last week with a win over Mount Pleasant  They have 3 road matches this week, MOT Charter on Monday, William Penn on Wednesday and St Andrews on Saturday.

    No. 8 Delcastle (7-3)(LW No. 8) The Cougars went 1-0 last week with a winWilliam Penn on Saturday. They travel to Red Lion on Wednesday and to Newark on Friday.

    No. 9 Dover (6-2-2)(LW No.9) The Senators went 1-0-1 last week with a tie vs Sussex Tech and a win against Woodbridge.  They host Smyrna on Tuesday and Milford on Thursday..

    No. 10 Sussex Central (5-2-2)(LW Unrank) The Golden Knights enter the top 10 this week after a win over Seaford.  They host Cape Henlopen on Tuesday and No. 3 Sussex Tech on Thursday.

    Division 2

    No. 1 Caravel (9-0)(LW No.1) The Bucs went 2-0 last week with wins over No. 2 Saint Marks 1-0 in overtime  and Howard. They host No. 4 Sussex Academy on Monday and Pafua on Wednesday.

    No. 2 Saint Mark’s (7-1)(LW No. 2) The Spartans went 1-1 last week  against two teams ranked in the top 4/  They lost 1-0 in overtime to No. 1 Caravel  and defeated  No. 4 Sussex Academy 4-0.  They are home for three matches this week, No. 3 Archmere on Tuesday, No. 6 Newark Charter on Thursday, and Tower Hill on Saturday.

    No. 3 Archmere (8-1)(LW No. 3) The Auks went 2-0 last week as they defeated FSMA  and Division 1 No. 6 Caesar Rodney.  They travel to No. 2 Saint Mark’s on Tuesday, and host DMA on Thursday.

    No. 4 Sussex Academy (8-1)(LW No. 4) The Seahawks went 2-1 against  three ranked teams on the road last week: They defeated No. 5 Indian River and  Division 1 No. 3 Sussex Tech, and lost to  No. 2 Saint Mark’s.  Three more road games against ranked teams this week, No. 1 Caravel on Monday, No. 10 Delmar on Thursday, and No. 6 Newark Charter on Saturday.

    No. 5 Indian River (5-2-1)(LW No. 5) The Indians went 1- last week with a loss to No. 4 Sussex Academy  and then defeated  Smyrna.  They travel to Padua on Monday, Lake Forest on Tuesday, then host Aspira on Thursday.

    No. 6  Newark Charter (5-3)(LW No. 10) The Patriots went 2-0 with wins over Wilmington Charter and Sanford.  They host FSMA on Tuesday, travel to No. 2 Saint Mark’s on Thursday night, and host No, 4 Sussex Academy on Saturday.

    No. 7 Sanford (7-2)(LW No. 6) The Warriors went 1-1 last week with a win over Tower Hill and a loss to Newark Charter.  They travel to St Andrews on Tuesday and host Wilmington Christian on Thursday.

    No. 8 St Andrew’s (6-2-1)(LW No. 8) The Saints went 2-0 last week with wins over Wilmington Christian  and MOT Charter.  They host No. 7 Sanford on Tuesday, Tatnall on Thursday, and Division 1 No. 7 Odessa on Saturday.

    No. 9 Conrad (7-3)(LW No. 9) The Red Wolves defeated MOT Charter last week.  They travel to Delmarva Christian on Monday and host Wilmington Charter on Wednesday.

    No. 10 Delmar (6-3)(LW No. 7) The Wildcats went 1-1 last week defeating Woodbridge and fell to Caesar Rodney 2-1.  They host Seaford on Tuesday, and No. 4 Sussex Academy on Thursday,
