New photos have been released of a local guardsman injured in a helicopter crash back in March, as he continues to recover. The 3-142nd Assault Helicopter Battalion out of Ronkonkoma, New York posted photos Wednesday of Rensselaer Native Jacob Pratt taking part in a pinning ceremony from his hospital bed.

Long Island Man Sentenced to 42 Months' Imprisonment for $3 Million Bank Loan Scheme
Earlier today, in federal court in Central Islip, Gary Confredo, also known as “Gary Conte,” the former operator of Goldstar Financial Management Corp. (Goldstar), a financial services business based in Commack, New York, was sentenced by United States District Judge Joan M. Azrack to 42 months’ imprisonment for conspiring to commit bank fraud in connection with a scheme to defraud Bank of America of more than $3.2 million in loans and lines of credit that were obtained under false pretenses. The Court also ordered Confredo to pay $1,096,882 restitution to Bank of America. Confredo pleaded guilty to the charge in November 2022.
East Patchogue Man Arrested for Assaulting Elderly in Commack Parking Lot
Suffolk County Police today arrested an East Patchogue man for assaulting an elderly man in a Commack parking lot last week. Robert Whittaker was panhandling for money in a parking lot, located at of 10 Garet Place, on May 7 when he pushed a 79-year-old man at approximately 3:45 p.m. The victim suffered minor injuries. Following an investigation by the Fourth Precinct Crime Section, officers responded to a 911 call reporting Whittaker was on East Main Street in Bay Shore today at 4:13 p.m.
