Berwick police seize 18 pounds of marijuana
Berwick police say a speeding stop and a whiff of weed Sunday led officers to 18 pounds of marijuana and a felony arrest. Donald Bissant, 41, New Orleans, was arrested at 6:20 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, speeding 75 mph in a 55 mph zone and driving under suspension.

Aloha: Hawaii skater answers call from Thibodaux teen to help advocate for skatepark
Parents and teens met with a skatepark founder to discuss how to advocate for one in their city. Ten teens and seven adults gathered Thursday at the Lafourche Library Thibodaux Branch to meet with Travis Aucoin, a former Thibodaux resident who now lives in Hawaii and opened a skatepark there through a nonprofit.

The Morgan City Council has a new member. The council on Tuesday confirmed Mayor Lee Dragna’s appointment of Bonnie Leonard to fill a vacant seat on the council. Also Tuesday, the council decided to wait for more discussion before approving a Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation to rezone a tract for a new mobile home park. They introduced an ordinance to set property tax rates for this year.
