WWII veteran receives honorary diploma from Alma Bryant High School
IRVINGTON, Ala. (WPMI) — WWII veteran George Place received an honorary diploma from Alma Bryant High Schoo. Place was a student at Alba High School in Bayou La Batre. The day after he turned 16 years old, he was sent to basic training. As a result, Place never finished high school. On Tuesday, at 98-years-old, he walked across the stage in a cap and gown and received an honorary diploma.
Jimmy Buffett Tribute Concert Coming To Fairhope

An Alabama woman was convicted of reckless manslaughter for the New Year’s Eve 2020 shooting death of a man in which she got into an altercation. 911 calls warned of reckless driver just before Semmes crash claimed 19-year-old’s life
MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Prosecutors on Wednesday played four 911 calls related to a fatal traffic wreck that claimed the life of a 19-year-old man in Semmes. They are just a fraction of the calls that came in between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. on April 28, according to testimony in Mobile County District Court. After hearing those calls and testimony from four witnesses, District Judge George Zoghby ordered Antonio Antonio Rodas to be jailed without bail under Aniah’s Law. The 29-year-old Guatemalan, who authorities contend was in the United States illegally, stands charged with murder in the death of Adam Luker.
